Patrons can borrow library books for set time periods, and these periods differ depending on whether the borrower is a student, faculty member, or staff.

Borrowed books should be returned on or before the due date. A loan can be extended if the book is not needed by another patron. Some books must be used within the library and cannot be borrowed. These include reference materials and reserve materials.

Bring the book and your student ID at the Reference and Circulation Desk. You will receive a note with the details of the book borrowed and the due date.

Access your library account at the library portal on the AUIB website. You can find out the list of books borrowed and the due dates. You can request a renewal of the loan if the item is not needed by another patron.

Books are returned to the Reference and Circulation Desk during open hours (See “When is the library open?” below).

Access your library account at the library.auib.edu.iq and place a recall for the book that you need. The current borrower will be notified by email that the loan cannot be extended. You will be notified by email when the book is available.

Reference materials are used within the library and cannot be borrowed.

Your professor may decide to place library materials on reserve to make them more readily accessible to you and your classmates. These materials are kept at the Information Desk and are borrowed for up to three hours per day per student. Reserve materials must be used within the library.

      • Sunday to Thursday: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
      • Friday: Closed
      • Saturday: 8:00 am to 2:00 pm

    Exceptions to hours of operation are announced via email.

The selection of new books is guided by the teaching and research needs of the academic departments. Library patrons are invited to make suggestions that will be thoroughly considered. Fill out and submit the electronic form available through the Suggest a New Book link on library.auib.edu.iq.

If digital material is not available through the AUIB Library, it may be requested from other institutions through what is known as Document Delivery Service (DDS). The DDs form is available on the library website by clicking on the “Order an Article” link. Please provide as much information as possible to quickly facilitate the request.

E-books can be located through searching in the library catalog. Most e-books can be downloaded, and others may be read online. Some e-books allow printing of a limited number of pages. Consult a librarian if you need assistance in finding and using an e-book.

Registered students can access library databases from anywhere using your AUIB email username and password. These credentials should not be shared with anyone.

Yes, the library has a large number of fiction books in print and digital formats. Ask library staff for the location of the print books. The American Space Library also has a large collection of fiction.

Yes, the library has 20 desktop PCS for use by students. No reservations are required, and your AUIB ID and password are used to log in to them.

The library offers several study rooms that accommodate groups of 3 to 6 students. Rooms can be reserved either at the library information desk or through the “Study Rooms” link on library.auib.edu.iq

Reservations may be made up to one week in advance.
